In today's tough economy, oDesk is helping companies get more done with less while also helping talented professionals find interesting and lucrative job opportunities with the freedom to work from anywhere in the world. Our story and those of oDesk buyers and providers have gotten great coverage so far (see:http://www.odesk.com/w/press ), but we know we're just scratching the surface.
We're looking for the ultimate evangelist, writer, and story teller who can help spread the word. Your role would be multi-faceted with responsibility for all aspects of public relations (story development, outreach, and coordination), the oBlog (our corporate blog), and helping to craft messaging to build the oDesk brand.
This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and works closely with the rest of our team including our CEO, our extended contractor team, and many oDesk buyers and providers. This position offers a great opportunity to tell an exciting and timely story and build a community around a business that is creating new opportunities for businesses and professionals alike.

* Great communication skills, especially writing. You're able to tell stories that other people want to hear in a personal style that is unique and memorable.
* Creative and analytical. We have tons of data and swim in compelling personal anecdotes from our users. You must be able to identify the most interesting themes and craft the right stories.
* Web-savvy. oDesk users are web-savvy and so are you. You understand how to use the web to deliver your message and how to engage online communities to build goodwill.

* Sense of urgency. We're changing the way the world works. There's no time to waste!
* Willing to roll-up your sleeves. oDesk is growing rapidly, but we're still a startup. You get stuff done.
* Experience. Maybe you've been at an agency for the past few years juggling multiple clients or you are a journalist jumping from story to story. We care less about the specific number of years of experience you have and more about your track record as a compelling writer and securing high-profile coverage or building an audience for what you have to say.
