Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned, Database and Reporting Engineer to
help deliver solutions to support the company's vision. As a key
member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering
data warehouse and reporting solutions using technologies such as
Pentaho and Ruby on Rails. You will be passionate about ensuring the
delivery of high quality software via best practices and manage the
staging and release cycles of multi, concurrent branches. You will be
instrumental in building an exciting and rapidly expanding company.
Requirements/Characteristics
* A Minimum of 4-7 years of web/application development experience.
* Strong skills with relational databases (MySQL), data modeling,
warehousing (Pentaho), reporting and SQL (queries, joins)
* Experience with an Object Oriented language.
* Experience integrating 3rd party systems and APIs
* Ruby on Rails experience (or a strong desire to learn!)
* Be a proponent of QA, TDD (test driven development), BDD (behavior
driven development) and automated test tools (RSpec, Selenium, Cruise
Control, etc...)
* Experience with high traffic websites, database performance tuning,
and systems scaling
* Experience managing external vendor relationships
* Use Agile development practices and SCRUM methodologies
* Solid communication skills, both written and oral
* Must be self-directed, confident, and able to work in a fast-paced
startup environment
* CS/Engineering degree or equivalent experience
